Lately I have been working more with the visualization of Aeronautical Information Exchange Model (AIXM) 5.1 + data in QGIS for several reasons:

  1. There are not so many AIXM viewers out there and some have been deprecated or left behind
  2. QGIS actually is able to render pretty good several of the AIXM features, it has improved support for it as per the latest GDAL improvements, of course this is due to the fact that I have reported a few things that were not correctly interpreted and fortunately the open-source community behind it were able to do changes quite quickly. Good thing is this change not only enhances QGIS but any other product that uses GDAL

One of the key things is applying symbology to layers, it is actually time consuming if you need to do the task repetitively but fortunately within QGIS there is the option to use something called QML if you want to learn a bit more about them you can read this old post by one of the core developers of QGIS
